The Itinerary: A Journey to the Lake

Morning Pick-Up: Our friendly driver will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi.
Scenic Drive: Enjoy a beautiful drive to Lake Chala, with picturesque views of the Tanzanian countryside and the majestic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
Arrival & Viewpoint: Upon arrival at the Lake Chala Safari Camp, you'll be treated to a spectacular panoramic view of the lake from the top of the crater rim. You will then begin a guided walk down the steep path to the water's edge.
Lakeside Activities: Once at the lake, you'll have time to relax and explore. You can swim in the cool, clear waters, or for an extra fee, you can hire a kayak and paddle along the lake's perimeter. You can also explore the dry riverbed, which is known for its stunning rock and lava formations.
Picnic Lunch: A delicious picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot by the lake, allowing you to enjoy your meal surrounded by nature's beauty.
Afternoon Exploration: After lunch, your guide will lead you on a walk to explore the surrounding area, offering chances to spot wildlife like baboons, vervet monkeys, or the tiny dik-dik.

Important Notes & Tips

Hiking: The path down to the lake is quite steep. We recommend wearing sturdy, comfortable walking or hiking shoes.
Swimming: The lake is generally considered safe for swimming, as there are no crocodiles. However, be aware that the water can be very deep, and there are no lifeguards on duty.
Wildlife: Keep an eye out for a variety of birds, including raptors, and animals such as baboons, blue monkeys, and dik-diks. In the dry season, it is even possible to spot elephants crossing from Kenya's Tsavo National Park.
What to Bring: A swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera are highly recommended.
